Nintendo released their own version of a seventh-generation console in 2006, their fifth home console, the Wii. It instantly became a hit and easily surpassed its counterparts, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s Playstation 3. It beat the record for best-selling console in a single month in the United States in 2009.
